Cole is seriously injured while looking for Caitlin, which leads the paramedics to cut short the search for Caitlin in order to airlift Cole and Olivia to the hospital.
A man picks Caitlin up and carries her away.

Annie calls Ben's house and tells Meg that Ben knows that Meg's been researching Maria's death -- because Annie sent the article to Ben's house. When Meg can't find the article, she thinks that Ben might have put it in the fire, but she can't find any evidence of it.

Annie tries, unsuccessfully, to seduce Gregory, but they end up connecting on the level of business partners, as well as the level of people who were close to Del.

Cole finds out that Caitlin has been presumed dead, but due to Olivia's precarious state after the accident, he has to lie to her and say that Caitlin is fine.
When Gregory finds out that someone died in the car accident, he assumes that it was Olivia.

Caitlin's Miscarriage
Caitlin tries to escape from the man who rescued her, but she's too weak. When she passes out again, the man unbuttons her sweater, wraps a scarf around her neck, and rebuttons her sweater.

When Virginia arranges for her and Michael to be alone at the cabin, Vanessa and Casey come to the cabin and discover them huddling together for warmth.

Ben goes to take a shower and Meg looks for something comfortable to put on. She presses an apparently decorative panel in the closet and finds a compartment with a box inside. When she opens the box, she finds sheets and scissors covered in a substance that looks like blood.

Sean and Bette help Cole, who was arrested for assaulting Gregory, escape from jail by having Sean take Cole's place in the cell.
Not knowing that Sean has taken Cole's place in the holding cell, Gregory hires a hitman and tells him to kill the man in the holding cell at the Sunset Beach Police Department.
Olivia has an emergency medical procedure, which causes her to go into early labor. Tyus tells Bette and Olivia that both possible fathers will need to donate blood in case they aren't able to stop the labor and the baby needs a transfusion when it is born.
Caitlin's Miscarriage
Caitlin's rescuer brings her safely to the Convent of Saint Anne, but not in time to prevent Caitlin from miscarrying.

When Cole goes to give blood for Olivia's baby, he runs into Gregory, who, realizing that he put a contract out on the wrong person, rushes to the Sunset Beach Police Department to stop the hitman.

Meg tries to convince herself that Annie planted the bloody sheets and scissors in Ben's closet.

Sean is unconscious when Gregory arrives, and Gregory thinks that the hitman killed him. When Sean regains consciousness, he berates Gregory for his behavior.

Caitlin awakes and finds that she has miscarried.

Gregory fires Bette when he finds out that Cole had Bette's support in his escape.
The police pursue Cole, with Paula and Ricardo at the head of the line trying to convince Cole to give himself up.

In mourning for the baby she miscarried, Caitlin asks Sister Beatrice not to contact her family.

Caitlin begins to blame herself for the miscarriage, thinking that it was her lack of trust in Cole that caused her to lose her baby.

Meg asks Tim for details of all of the things he and Annie did to break up Ben and Meg.

Annie is crushed when she finds out that Ben and Meg are engaged.

Vanessa brings the fact that Virginia was pulled over on the road leading from the cabin, but Virginia has a story that checks out -- she was picking up a prescription for Selita Jones.

Cole finds the convent where Caitlin is staying, but just misses seeing her getting some fresh air outside.

Cole and Caitlin are reunited, but Caitlin hesitates to tell him about the miscarriage.

Caitlin's Miscarriage
Caitlin is, once again, unable to bring herself to tell Cole about the miscarriage when he proposes to her. This time, she accepts his proposal.
Gregory & Olivia's Divorce
Olivia asks Bette to locate Charles so that she can file to divorce Gregory.
Meg receives a message to meet Mark at the Deep. When she arrives, she can't find Mark and instead finds Ben, who asks her if she thought that she could hide "it" from him forever.

Meg finds out that the thing that Ben has accused her of hiding from him is her birthday. He has been planning a surprise birthday party for her. In fact, he stole her dayplanner from her in an effort to get the phone numbers of some of her friends from Kansas to invite them.
Caitlin's Miscarriage
Caitlin decides to tell Cole about the miscarriage after she becomes pregnant again. She later tells Cole that she never wants to go back to Sunset Beach again.

At Tim's invitation, Alma Rodriguez, an exact double of Maria attends Meg's birthday party. Annie gets the fright of her life when she crashes Meg's birthday party and Alma is the first person she sees.

Meg finds out that Ben moved her things into his house. While she is at first upset with Ben, when he explains that he did it so that they could spend more time together, she forgives him.

Gregory finds out that Olivia plans to divorce him and he threatens that he will never allow her to divorce him.

Michael invites Vanessa to Thanksgiving dinner at Surf Central.
