Sunset Beach Timeline

Unbeknownst to Gregory, Tiffany moves into the maid's quarters at the Richards house.

Casey and Rae receive a wedding present of an heirloom tea set from Rae's family.
Casey makes the point with Rae that, like Ricardo and Paula, they might not have all the time in the world to show each other how they feel about each other.

Elaine sees Cole for the first time and feels compelled to ask him about his family.
Elaine is surprised to discover that she and Cole share an interest in the Deschanel family -- especially the Deschanel jewels.

Gregory hires someone to have Vanessa's story killed.
Vanessa is upset when she finds out that her story wasn't published.
Vanessa asks Michael for information about Grand Avenue.
Vanessa tells the assembled Surf Centralites that her story was about an apparently-legitimate corporation that is conducting shady real estate deals, and that everyone in Sunset Beach will be affected.
Vanessa researches "Grand Avenue," and finds that it was a gang war.

Casey counsels Meg to tell Ben that she's "Dorothy."
Meg hesitates, but Casey assures her that things have a way of working out.

Cole tells a sympathetic Elaine that his mother abandoned him in the hospital when he was born.
Olivia and Bette discuss their role in Cole's kidnapping, both explaining that they didn't know that Del was going to kidnap Cole.
Elaine tells Caitlin about her brief romance with AJ Deschanel.

Caitlin/Cole/Olivia/Gregory

Olivia tells Bette that she nearly told Cole that he was Elaine's son, but that they had been interrupted by Caitlin.
Olivia says that the last thing she needs is for her daughter to catch her in her room with a strange man.
Caitlin and Cole meet at the Grotto, and Cole assures Caitlin that there is no other woman.
When Olivia makes another attempt to tell Cole, he first denies being AJ Deschanel's son, then he tells her that she won't be able to recapture her romance with AJ with him.

Vanessa tries to convince Michael not to tell Virginia and Jimmy that he killed Jackson.
Michael decides to go to Virginia's place and tell them anyhow, but when they get there, he chickens out of telling them the truth.
Michael is consumed with guilt over not having told Virginia and Jimmy the truth, but Vanessa reminds him that he's repaid his debt to them many times already.

Paula/Ricardo/Gabi

Elaine berates Gabi for not telling her that she is Lorenzo's daughter when she first arrived in Sunset Beach.
Gabi explains that she wanted to tell Paula first, but needed to be close to Elaine in their hour of need.
Gabi comes to the police station for a job interview, and Ricardo tries to talk her out of working at the station.

When she sees Tiffany handling a knicknack, Olivia calls the police to report her as a thief.
Tiffany touches Olivia, though, by asking her if she's ever been poor, and Olivia tells her that she was poor once, and that she'll help Tiffany fit in.
Sean is touched by Olivia's offer.
Gregory finds Spike and calls Animal Control to take him away.

Caitlin/Cole/Olivia/Gregory

Mark invites a depressed Caitlin to Casey and Rae's "wedding reception."
At first, Caitlin refuses on the grounds that she doesn't want to lie, but Mark convinces her to go.

Casey gets Rae to admit that she still has feelings for Wei-Lee, but Rae says that medical school opened her eyes to a whole new world, and she couldn't go back.
Casey pressures Rae to tell Wei-Lee the truth.
As the "wedding reception" progresses, Casey and Rae are increasingly guilt-ridden.

Annie tells Ben that she's a troublemaker because she would rather have been scolded by her father than ignored by him.
Annie admits that she loves Ben and that it hurts her to see Ben falling for Meg.

Paula's Abduction	Ralph moves Paula out of the Army barracks.
Del's Murder	Annie decides that she must have killed Del and then blocked it out, so she announces her intention to turn herself in.
	March 4, 1997
Paula's Abduction	Paula throws her police academy ring out the window in hopes that someone will find it. Unfortunately, the person who finds it is Tiffany, who merely puts it in her pocket.
Sean & Tiffany	Unbeknownst to Gregory, Tiffany moves into the maid's quarters at the Richards house.

Paula's Abduction	Meg discovers that Tiffany has the ring, and alerts Ricardo, who rushes to the warehouse where Tiffany found the ring. Ralph, however, has moved Paula to a VW van in the woods, where he's gassing her to death with carbon monoxide.
Del's Murder	Gregory tells Tim to find out if Ben and Meg really are involved, but Tim is really investigating as part of a plan to get Meg back.
	March 6, 1997
Paula's Abduction	When Eddie shoots Ralph, his last words are "Paula's dead."
Del's Murder	Ben stops Annie from turning herself in by helping her realize that Del was already dead when she found him in his hotel room. Tim finds out that Annie's still alive.
	March 7, 1997
Paula's Abduction	Ricardo and Eddie find the van where Ralph has hidden Paula. Gabi supports Elaine in her time of need while Paula's missing. Elaine and Rae get calls to come to the medical center, where Ricardo and Eddie are about to bring Paula. Paula arrives at the medical center, and soon lapses into a coma. Eddie worries about what Paula might know about his involvement in her kidnapping. Elaine and Ricardo sit vigil by Paula's bedside.

Tim hints to Meg that he doesn't like her involvement with Ben, because Ben is harboring an alleged murderer. Gregory tempts Tim to tell what he knows about Annie by promising to help Tim get Meg back.
Caitlin/Cole/Olivia/Gregory	Olivia is curious when Elaine tells her about Cole's interest in the Deschanel jewels. Olivia and Cole have another rendezvous at the Seabreeze Motel -- when Cole comes into the room, Olivia's wearing a nightgown and diamonds.

Paula's Abduction	Paula tells Ricardo that she's certain that Ralph wasn't working alone.
Del's Murder	Tim tells Gregory that Annie's still alive.
Caitlin/Cole/Olivia/Gregory	When Bette finds out about Cole and Olivia's affair, she points out to Olivia that Cole is Elaine's son, whom Elaine thought had died in infancy, and threatens to go to Elaine and tell her.

Paula's Abduction	Paula is released from the hospital, but she's still shaky from her kidnapping.
Del's Murder	Ben and Meg decide that the killer must have the Deschanel jewels.
Caitlin/Cole/Olivia/Gregory	Cole and Caitlin reunite and are nearly discovered together by Olivia.

Del's Murder	Gregory sends Eddie to Ben's house to arrest Annie, but Annie has left the house dressed up to look like Meg.
	March 13, 1997
Del's Murder	Eddie lurks around Ben's house, thinking that Annie in Maria's wig is actually Meg, looking for Annie. Annie and Ben discuss Del's business dealings, and Annie suggests that Ben research the name of Del's favorite boat -- Liberty. After Ben leaves to meet Meg at a picnic at Surf Central, Meg arrives. Eddie is surprised to find that Annie isn't Meg after all, and Meg is surprised to see Annie in her Meg costume. Eddie picks the lock on Ben's house and breaks in. While Eddie is wandering around looking for Annie, Ben and Meg return.

Paula/Ricardo/Gabi	Paula gets a call from someone who hangs up when she answers and decides that she must be being stalked. She refuses to go see a therapist, insisting she can handle her problems herself. They begin to get intimate, but Ricardo stops when he uncovers the tattoo. Paula insists that he pulled away because she was "damaged goods," but he assures her that it was only because she needs more time to heal. Ricardo goes to the Waffle Shop for some of Elaine's chicken soup, and Paula is home alone, frightened by every sound she hears. When Elaine introduces Ricardo to Gabi, he pretends not to know her.
	March 14, 1997
Del's Murder	Annie breaks into Eddie's apartment and finds the Deschanel jewels. We find out that Gregory hired Eddie to kill Del, but that Del was already dead when Eddie got there, so Eddie stole the Deschanel jewels instead.
	March 17, 1997
Del's Murder	Annie steals the briefcase from Eddie's apartment and leaves it at the Deep for Ben.
Paula/Ricardo/Gabi	Gabi comes to Ricardo's apartment with soup for Paula, and the two bond.
	March 18, 1997
Casey & Rae	Rae's fiance, Wei-Lee, arrives in Sunset Beach.
Del's Murder	Olivia discovers that Tiffany is living in their house, and Tiffany blackmails Olivia with the information that Sean saw her at the hotel the night that Del was murdered so that she can stay.
	March 21, 1997
Del's Murder	Ben agrees that Eddie having the Deschanel jewels would prove that he killed Del -- if she had left the briefcase in Eddie's apartment. Mark tells Ben that he put the briefcase in Ben's office. Eddie arrives looking for the briefcase, and Mark tells him that it's in Ben's office with Meg. Eddie stalks Meg and holds her hostage in exchange for the Deschanel jewels.
Paula/Ricardo/Gabi	Ricardo reaffirms that he wants to marry Paula as soon as she'll have him. She tells him that she needs some time to adjust to the idea of living together before she can marry him. Gabi watches Paula and Ricardo dancing. After telling Paula that they're sisters (they have the same father -- Lorenzo Martinez), Gabi moves in with Paula and Ricardo.

Del's Murder	Eddie escapes to Switzerland, discovers that the briefcase is filled with sand, and finds Cole's birth certificate hidden in the briefcase.
Paula/Ricardo/Gabi	Elaine becomes upset when Paula tells her that Gabi is also Lorenzo Martinez's daughter.
Casey & Rae	Wei-Lee begins planning a wedding reception for Casey and Rae.

When Olivia and Bette arrive to tell Elaine that Cole is her son, they only get as far as mentioning AJ before Elaine becomes agitated and leaves.
